There are a lot of aspects to think about when creating your digital marketing plan. From goals to the audience, to strategy.

However, one thing that can often get overlooked is platforms. There is no doubt that social media is a staple to any business’ plan but in order to be engaging with the right audiences and the right time, you need to nail your digital marketing platform.

If you don’t get this right you could potentially be wasting time and money promoting to audiences who are less likely to convert. Following these steps below will ensure you get the most out of your marketing.

Research Platforms

There are so many social media platforms out there so what you need to figure out is what ones are the most popular and this will be where you reach the most users. Social media platforms are not always for everyone, some are designed for users to share niche interests such as equine. The most popular social media platforms with the broadest audiences tend to be, TikTok, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn and Twitter.

Buyer Persona

It’s always useful to create a buyer persona based on your target audiences. This way you can get to grips with what social media platforms they are most likely to be on. For example, if you do your research you will find that if your target audience is teenagers, they are most likely to be on TikTok and Instagram.

Measure

It’s ok to use several social media platforms within your marketing plan. But if you find you are using more than four or five be sure to measure that data. Are you reaching your target audiences using that platform? If a certain platform is not helping you achieve your goals then simply remove it and focus your energy into those where you are seeing great reach and return.
