Local Grapevine is a free app available on smartphones and tablets to help you find and support local independent businesses in your area.
We were invited to quote for the project which included the full works: logo brand creation, UX/UI, app development and a website to promote the app’s key features. After further Zoom meetings to nail down the spec Copper Bay were chosen and the team were excited to begin.
The first step was to create a logo and brand identity for Local Grapevine. The client provided some initial direction of colours and possible concepts which were explored. After a few adjustments and final testing the logo was signed off and we began the initial screen designs.
This process started with pen and paper sketches to flesh out key screens designs, whilst ensuring navigating around the app was simple for all users. We also developed an Adobe XD prototype of the app, which was tested internally and shared with our client. This helped give our client a much more realistic way to test the designs. Also changes could be made more easily at this stage before going into development.
Once the key screens and prototype were signed off we began the app development. Our designer and developers worked closely together to ensure all designs and concepts were implemented in the build. Throughout the process we had a number of testing phases internally and with our client.
Some key features of the app were: users to be able to register and log in to the app, perform simple search and filter by location, map, name and category and highlight registered businesses’, competitions and offers. Also when a user had favourited a particular business it was then important that they would receive push notifications when that business releases new offers, events or competitions.
We enjoyed working with Local Grapevine on this new idea and look forward to working with them in the future. If you would like to discuss your ideas with us, get in touch today.
